His income was derived almost entirely from seasonal crops and that was also totally dependent on the rain. Sometimes due to lack of sufficient rain, many poor farmers faced starvation during off-seasons. Their income from milch cow and buffaloes was undependable. The milk marketing system was controlled by middlemen and some agencies run by local high profile politicians.
As milk is perishable, farmers were compelled to sell their milk for whatever they were offered and had no option than continue to bare the losses.

The villagers in general were illiterate. But they could see that the system under which middlemen and the agencies could buy their produce at a low price and arrange to sell it at huge profits was just not fair.
To avoid the middlemen’s intervention and pass on the profit to local farmers, some of the members of KAPUR AGRANI thought of having own dairy set up to contribute to some development outcomes and help the poor farmers financially and to uplift their lifestyle and contribute to the development of the villages .

get in touch with usIt was Established in the year 2005, in the village called Manjarde of Taluka-Tasgaon in the state of Maharashtra. Initially 125 farmers were engaged with initial collection of 1700 litre milk with authorised capital of Rs. 10lakh and created platform for the local farmers to sell their milk and made them financially independent.
The cordial relationship between the farmers and the management of KAPUR AGRANI MILK AND AGRO PROCESSING PRIVATE LIMITED, gave confidence to other farmers and motivated them to partner with KAPUR AGRANI AND AGRO PROCESSING PRIVATE LIMITED, which resulted into engaging around 5000 farmers in the year 2007.
Today, almost 30000 farmers are engaged with KAPUR AGRANI with around 90 collection centres supplying around one lakh fifty thousand litre milk to our 3 processing units.
OTHER INITIATIVES FOR FARMERS
- Started educating farmers on best practices on maintaining the tabela hygienically for cows and buffaloes.
- Provided food grade material cans for collecting milk and delivery to collection centre
- Trained on testing fat and SNF milk samples
- Trained on calculation of rate per litre of milk
- Payment of the farmers is directly deposited to their bank account through collection centre.
- In 2009, cows were distributed to 700 farmers and their loan interest was paid by KAPUR AGRANI MILK AND AGRO PROCESSING PRIVATE LIMITED.
- Chara chavani were set up in 2012 for nearby farmers in Tasgaon and Solapur
